Interactive Video Art Workshop
Body Reactive Augmented Reality Environments
June 11 - 13 | 2008

In this workshop, I will introduce Processing programming language when different concepts of drawing, animation, interaction, generative and video analysis techniques are explored. In this sense, the technical knowledge will be acquired to respond the needs that resulted from the artistic reflection and experimentation. The goal is the creation of immersive augmented reality environments that explore intuitive, exploratory, manipulative and collaborative interaction methods, where the subject body expression and the virtual objects behaviour establish an insightful dialogue in a continuous feedback loop process. These tools allow to translate the artist thought into a commands sequence, resulting in personal aesthetic vocabulary with constant principles and irreproducible results.

Lecture "Augmented Body"

Body Mapping, Immersion and Interaction in the Digital Era
April 14 | 2008

"In this lecture, I describe the principles, motivations and methods in the research, conception, formalization and reflection of my artist practice.
The development of Software-Art and Custom Human-Computer Interfaces need a transdisciplinar context through the convergence of the arts and the computer sciences domains. These Interactive Augmented Reality Environments apply computational algorithms to capture and analyze the body shape and motion and to create the user digital body representation in an immersive space. In these environments, the user interacts with digital objects and establishes intuitive and emotional relations that render the intervenient subjectivity. In this process, the body is the central composition element and produces interactive sound and visual contents in constant adaptation feedback loop process, modifying the user conception and perception of his/her role."

Olhares de Outono 2007 - Digital Arts Festival
School of Arts | Portuguese Catholic University | Porto | Portugal
October 31- November 3 | 2007

In 2007, the activities chosen for the “Olhares de Outono”, fall within the area of GENERATIVE ART. Generative Art gives artists the possibility of developing ideas and concepts as if they were a genetic code, and of thus generating series of events, images, objects, architecture, music, ambiences; always different and unpredictable. This approach is one of the most creative forms of expression in an increasingly complex society where artificial spaces naturally emerge.

On your right, the images 1 and 2 are frames from two generative works developed in my first experience with Processing programing language, during the Marius Watz workshop "Play" and the Zachary Lieberman workshop "Making things move: Advanced Processing", in Olhares de Outono 07 Digital Art Festival, Porto, Portugal.
